Lineup is the only UK integrators of dataplan GmbH’s JournalSuite. Developed in Germany, JournalSuite supports magazine publishers with their issue planning. The JournalSuite is comprised of JournalDesigner, JournalViewer and JournalBrowser.
JournalDesigner is the magazine issue planning software at the heart of the JournalSuite. Whilst planning the issue, JournalDesigner takes into account editorial preferences, ad and technical requirements. These factors are then bought together and evaluated as the production process evolves from planning to press. JournalDesigner is able to plan for different shapes and sizes within an issue, such as booklets and gate folders.
By using a sophisticated rights system, JournalDesigner can allow for different user groups to have varying access to the workflow. Users are also able to communicate through JournalDesigner’s built in chat & news system and through a unique conference function, which means that more than one user can work on the same planning project.
Deadlines can be created for all the production planning process of the issue to ensure that each stage is completed on time.
JournalViewer allows for the planning process to be viewed in a read-only mode, which is ideal for editors to monitor the status and progress of the issue. The information for editorial and ads are updated automatically. The planning view can be displayed in three modes, Readers View, Status View and Signature View, as per the supervisor’s requirements.
JournalBrowser displays the page structures of the magazine that have been created in JournalDesigner. Through a browser window the issue structure is visible to all authorized users, either through an Intranet or the Internet.
